Clown for the Actor Workshop.

There are three types of clown, Child clown, Adult clown, and Simple clown. Understanding these roles can help your ensemble further understand the individual skills and strengths hidden within your theatre group.

Workshop 1 – 5 pm
When – Sunday 16th Dec 2018 1 – 5 pm (Registration 12:45 for a 1 pm start)
Where – Metro Arts warehouse space 4th floor 2/109 Edward St, Brisbane City QLD 4001 (lift not working at this time).
Bring – a water bottle, wear your blacks (if possible) or comfortable clothing
Cost – $20 donation to cover venue hire

Child Clown, Adult Clown, and Simple Clown
Understanding how these clown roles and their antics relate to and mirror certain aspects of character development within storytelling can assist the actor in revealing a script’s full dynamic potential.

During this workshop, I will be taking you through an Extended Non-verbal Communication Improvisation where you will be able to broaden your non-verbal communication skills using intuitive corporeal mime. You will rediscover playfulness and spontaneity in your acting. We will be using well-honed improvisational techniques and teachings from John Wright UK to further inform the process.

About Tony Kishawi
Since graduating at the VCA in 1980, Tony Kishawi has been pursuing a love of performance theatre through Commedia dell ‘Arte incorporating extensive training in mime, clowning, movement and street theatre. Tony has worked in the theatre industry as an actor, director, creator, producer. He has also taught at NIDA and Founding Member of Theatre Works St. Kilda VIC. and undertaken many community-based theatre projects and events.

While Tony has an extensive performing career spanning 45 years he discovered a lifetime passion for developing other performers and teachers. Conducting workshops, Tony has created a number of successful workshops and which bring out the best in those participating. His experience and knowledge in the field of Commedia dell ‘Arte had Tony invited to lead a Commedia Masterclass at the Queensland Drama Teachers Conference in 2009 – 2010 NSW Drama Conference 2016 Creator of the Commedia International Festival 2011 Queensland University of Technology. Has lectured at CQU, QUT, USC, SCU Griffith University and UQ. Founding Member of the infamous Angry Mime and Angry Mime Summer School.
